Affect
" ' I heard [the] muffled explosion, I pulled Ruhl off the bunker, but he was dead. I am positive that had it not been for the self-sacrifice of his life, I would have been killed or seriously wounded.' " page280. If this were to have happened to me I wouldn't know what to do. See a friend of mine that I have been with for the past 3 months sacrifice him self for me. But For Don Ruhl's bravery he was awarded the posthumous Medal of Honor for sacrificing him self for this fellow marine.
Fav Pass
" Crull, a freckle-faced Irish boy not more than eighteen years old, was screaming as he died. and his words would haunt Mayers: 'Mom! Mom! He's killing me! Mom, he's killing me!" Page 293. one reason why this is one of my favorite passages is because, if something like this were to happen to anyone, I personally believe that they would never get over it and it will haunt them. Not only that these Marines were not only friends and fellow soldiers, they were brothers, family.
